Where our water comes from
Every drop starts as Santa Clarita municipal water, from the same supply that serves your home. It arrives already treated to federal and state drinking water standards.
Our job is to take it further. We take out the chlorine taste and odor and most of the dissolved solids, then, for our alkaline water, add minerals back for taste and a steady pH.

What happens inside the store before the water reaches your bottle.
Santa Clarita city water comes in
Safe, treated municipal water. It can still carry a chlorine taste, hardness and dissolved solids.
Sediment and carbon pre-filters
They take out grit, rust and sediment, plus the chlorine taste and odor left by city treatment.
Reverse osmosis
Water is pushed through a membrane fine enough to remove most total dissolved solids (TDS). This is our purified water.
Minerals go back in
For alkaline water, minerals such as calcium and magnesium are added back, bringing the pH to 8.5–9.5.

We check pH and TDS every day we are open. Ask to see today's reading at the counter.
What the two numbers mean
We test two things every day we are open. Here is what each one tells you, in plain words.
pH: acidic or alkaline
pH runs from 0 to 14. Seven is neutral, below 7 is acidic and above 7 is alkaline. Our alkaline water sits between 8.5 and 9.5, because of the calcium and magnesium we add back after reverse osmosis.
TDS: what is dissolved in it
TDS means total dissolved solids: the minerals and salts dissolved in water, measured in parts per million (ppm). Reverse osmosis removes most of them, so a low reading on our purified water shows the membrane is doing its job.
Our testing policy. We test pH and TDS every day we are open, on the same handheld meters we use in front of customers. Filters are replaced on the industry-recommended schedule, not when they fail. If a reading is ever off, the water does not get sold. Ask to see today's numbers when you visit.
Our water is made with AlkaVida filtration, built in California since 1994 and held to American standards.
AlkaVida's ALKARO75 and QMPRO75 reverse osmosis systems are certified to WQA S-300 by IAPMO Research & Testing for TDS reduction (file WC-10801), and the filter media is NSF/ANSI 61 certified. See AlkaVida's testing results
Want to know what is in your own tap?
Santa Clarita's city water is treated and safe to drink. What most people notice is the chlorine taste and the hardness that leaves scale on taps and kettles. You do not have to take our word for any of it. Your water supplier publishes a yearly water quality report, and you can look up your zip code yourself.
